Bill Maher: “Police Culture Has To Change”

>>Stephen: WE’RE BACK WITH
OUR FRIEND BILL MAHER. BILL, AS I SAID, TOMORROW
FRIDAY, YOU’VE GOT A SHOW LIVE.>>I’M GLAD YOU REMINDED ME,
I’VE GOT TO LEAVE.>>Stephen: WE’LL WAIT A FEW
MORE MINUTES, PLEASE.>>ALL RIGHT.>>Stephen: WHAT ARE YOUR
THOUGHTS ON WHAT HAS HAPPENED LAST WEEK? IT WAS ONE OF SORT OF THE
SADDEST WEEKS ON MEMORY, GIVEN A CHANGE, MANY SAD WEEKS WE’VE HAD
IN THIS COUNTRY AND ANNEED WORLD. DO YOU HAVE ANY REFLECTIONS ON
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK SPH.>>ON BOTH SIDES OF IT. I MEAN FIRST OF ALL, YOU KNOW,
I’M A BIT OF A CYNIC. I THINK CIVILIZATION IS A MILE
WIDE AND AN INCH DEEP. WITHOUT THE POLICE ON THE JOB,
YOU KNOW, THAT MOVIE THE PURGE, IT WOULD BE THAT EVERY DAY. WITHOUT THE POLICE.>>Stephen: I BELIEVE THAT
THERE SHOULD BE A SOCIAL ORDER AND THERE SHOULD BE SOME
AUTHORITY. AND WITHOUT IT, YOU KNOW SHALL
IT– IN TWO DAYS WOULD YOU EAT MY LIVER. (LAUGHTER)
>>AND IT WOULDN’T BE GOOD FOR YOU.>>Stephen: OKAY.>>SO OBVIOUSLY ANY TIME ANYBODY
SHOOTS A POLICEMAN, YOU KNOW, IT’S JUST ABHOR ANT. AND YOU KNOW, THERE’S NO ANDS,
IFS OR BUTS ABOUT T SO I DON’T CONDONE IT BUT I UNDERSTAND
TESTIMONY YOU CAN ONLY LOOK AT SO MANY VIDEOS OF SHOOTING
UNARMED BLACK PEOPLE. I’M SURPRISED IT ACTUALLY DIDN’T
HAPPEN BEFORE.>>Stephen: HUH-UH HUH. AND SAID FAMOUSLY THAT THOSE WHO
MAKE PEACEFUL REVOLUTION POSSIBLE MAKE VIOLENT REVOLUTION
INEVITABLE.>>RIGHT, YEAH.>>Stephen: AND BLACK LIVES
MATTER MOVEMENT IS TRYING TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE FACT THAT
THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A LONG TIME AND IT COMES, IS PAID
ATTENTION TO AND THEN IT PASSES.>>THIS GOES BACK TO, WELL,
CERTAINLY BEFORE. BUT ON TAPE RODNEY KING. RODNEY KING WAS WHAT, 1991? ’92, SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I MEAN WE ALL LOOKED AT THAT
TAPE AND WE THOUGHT HOW CAN THESE COPS GET AWAY WITH THIS. YOU KNOW, NO MATTER WHAT RODNEY
KING DID, LEAD THEM ON A CHASE, THEY GOT HIM ON THE GROUND AND
THERE ARE SIX GUYS WHALING ON HIM WITH A BATON AND SHOW THEY
GET OFF. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG HERE
THAT HAS TO BE ADDRESSED. SO OBVIOUSLY VIOLENCE IS WRONG
ON BOTH SIDES. BUT YOU KNOW, I’VE BEEN TALK
TALKING ABOUT POLICE CULTURE IN THIS COUNTRY FOR A LONG TIME. LIKE I SAY, WE ALL NEED THE
POLICE. I THINK WE RESPECT THEM BUT
THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH POLICE CULTURE. AND I DON’T THINK MOST POLICEMAN
ARE BAD PEOPLE OR WOULD DO THE THINGS WE SEE ON TAPE AM BUT
THERE IS THAT THIN BLUE LINE MENTALITY WHERE THEY PROTECT
THEIR OWN. AND I THINK THAT– .>>Stephen: YOU THINK IT’S
DIFFERENT NOW, DO YOU THINK IT’S WORSE THAN IT USED TO BE OR DO
YOU THINK THAT WE JUST GET TO SEE SOME OF THE ABUSES OF
AUTHORITY NOW.>>THAT’S TRUE TOO. WE SEE IT MORE. I CERTAINLY DON’T THINK IT’S ANY
BETTER. I THINK WE JUST SEE IT. AND I THINK THE POLICE KIND OF
LIKE THE PRIESTHOOD, THEY ATTRACT THE WRONG KIND OF PEOPLE
SOMETIMES. SORRY.>>Stephen: THAT’S ALL RIGHT.>>BUT IT’S KIND OF TRUE. I THINK THERE’S A LOT OF PEOPLE
WHO GO INTO POLICE WORK BECAUSE THEY WERE THE PERSON WHO WHEN
THEY WERE YOUNG, THEY HAD NO AUTHORITY. THEY WERE KIND OF LOSERS AND NOW
THEY WANT TO HAVE THE ABILITY TO LORD IT OVER PEOPLE, YOU KNOW. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT CANNOT BE
REVENGE FOR HIGH SCHOOL. AND WE HAVE TO– .>>Stephen: YOU ARE THINKING
OF A FEW PEOPLE. ARE YOU SORT OF PAINTING WITH A
BROAD BRUSH THERE?>>WE DON’T KNOW. WE DON’T KNOW. BUT CERTAINLY, I’VE SEEN ENOUGH
VIDEOS TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE TOO MANY COPS WHO ACT LIKE THAT. I MEAN ANY IS TOO MANY. AND YES, I DO THINK THAT’S A
TYPE OF PERSON WHO GOES INTO POLICE WORK. AND BY THE WAY, YOU CAN
ELIMINATE THAT. THERE ARE PSYCHOLOGY TESTS THAT
YOU CAN TAKE. WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE POLICEMEN. I THINK MOST POLICEMAN WANT TO
DO IT FOR THE RIGHT REASONS. I THINK MOST DO DO IT FOR THE
RIGHT REASONS. BUT I ALSO THINK THAT, YOU KNOW,
WHEN THEY SAY IT’S A DIFFICULT JOB, IT IS A DIFFICULT JOB. THAT YOU VOLUNTEERED FOR. YOU KNOW. NO ONE IS CON SCRIPTED INTO
POLICE WORK. YOU WANTED TO DO IT. IT’S DANGEROUS, YES. BUT IT SAYS TO PROTECT AND SERVE
ON THIS SIDE OF THE CARD THAT REFERS TO US, YOU ARE PROTECTING
AND SERVING. YOU’RE NOT THERE TO PROTECH
YOURSELF.>>Stephen: THAT DOESN’T
DIMINISH IN ANYWAY THE TRAGEDY OF WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK.>>DID I SAY IT DOES?>>Stephen: NO, BUT THE
IMPLICATION OF THAT WHEN I HEAR THAT IS THAT YOU HAVE TO EXPECT
THAT THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN SOMETIMES.>>NO, I DISN SAY THAT EITHER. I SAID I’M SURPRISED THAT IT
HASN’T HAPPENED BEFORE. YOU CANNOT SHOOT UNARMED PEOPLE
CONTINUE ALLLY WITHOUT SOMEONE FIRING BACK. SORRY. THAT’S JUST THE WAY IT IS. AND I HOPE IT GETS BETTER IN
THIS COUNTRY. IT SHOULD GET BETTER. AND I DON’T WANT TO SEE ANY MORE
VIOLENCE. BUT YES, I DO THINK POLICE
CULTURE HAS TO CHANGE TO A DEGREE. IT’S ONLY BEEN RECENTLY WHEN WE
SAW THESE HORRIFIC SHOOTINGS AND ONLY RECENTLY THAT THEY EVEN
SAID WELL, YOU KNOW, THIS WAS WRONG. BEFORE THAT IT WAS ALWAYS, THEY
WERE DOING IT BY THE BOOK. BY THE BOOK? WELL, MAYBE YOU NEED A NEW BOOK. (APPLAUSE).>>Stephen: THERE IS SOME
SENSE OF– WITHIN THE FUNNY PART OF THE SHOW IS OVER.>>Stephen: THIS IS ALL BEING
EDITED OUT. NONE OF THIS IS GOING TO MAKE IT
TO AIR, BILL. WE’RE GOING TO STICK WITH THE
POKEMON JOKES FOR ALL OF IT. SO YOU KNOW, WE SAID EARLIER
THAT IT’S HAPPENING ON BOTH SIDES. DO YOU THINK THERE IS A WAY THAT
IT DOESN’T END UP BEING SIDES. THERE COULD BE A SESATION OF A
SENSE THAT THERE IS A SIDE. AND THAT YOU HAVE TO BE ON ONE
SIDE OR THE OTHER SIDE. BECAUSE I THINK THAT LEADS TO
ANOTHER ERA OF HOSTILITY.>>IT SHOULDN’T BE SUCH, BUT IT
DOES HAVE TO START WITH THE POLICE STOP SHOOTING UNARMED
BLACK PEOPLE. AND THE POLICE STOP BUILDING FOR
THE GUN– STOP GOING FOR THE GUN IMMEDIATELY. AGAIN, IT IS A DANGEROUS JOB. I’M SORRY IT IS, BUT YOU
VOLUNTEERED FOR IT IT’S LIKE A PROBING TOLL GUEST GETTING TO
THE OFFICE AND GOING OH MY GOD, I CAN’T BELIEVE I’M LOOKING AT
[BLEEP] ALL DAY. (LAUGHTER)
WHEN YOU’RE A COP, YOU’RE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT [BLEEP] ALL
DAY. THAT IS THE JOB YOU SIGNED UP
FOR. AND THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE A
LITTLE NERVOUS, YOU CAN’T JUST BAM BAM BAM. SO I DON’T GET HURT. AND AGAIN I DON’T THINK MOST
COPS DO THAT.>>Stephen: DO YOU THINK THEY
ARE TRAINED INTO THIS BEHAVIOR.>>I DON’T THINK THEY ARE
TRAINED ENOUGH OR WELL ENOUGH. I DON’T. I MEAN WE’VE SEEN POLICE
SHOOTINGS WHERE THEY FIRED LIKE A LOT OF TIMES VERY CLOSE RANGE. AND DIDN’T EVEN HIT THE GUY. SPEND SOME TIME AT THE RANGE.>>Stephen: OR BE A
STORMTROOPER. PLAF
(LAUGHTER)>>YOU KNOW, I THINK WHAT
HAPPENED IN THIS COUNTRY IS THAT IN THE LATE 60ST PEOPLE CALLED
THE COPS PIGS WHICH WAS VERY, VERY WRONG. THAT WAS THE MENTALITY. AND EVER SINCE THEN, WE’VE KIND
OF BEEN TRYING TO MAKE UP FOR THAT. AND WE PUT THEM ON A PEDESTAL. YOU KNOW, WE– YOU CAN’T
CRITICIZE, YOU CAN’T SAY ANYTHING. THEY’RE ALWAYS HEROES. WELL, THEY OFTEN ARE HEROES BUT
THEY ARE ALSO HUMAN BEINGS WHO ARE DOING A HUMAN JOB. AND AGAIN MOST OF THEM I THINK
LIKE THEIR JOB. BECAUSE YES, YOU SEE SOME OF THE
DISRESPECT. AND SOMETIMES THEY ARE
DISRESPECTED. BUT TO BE A COP IS ALSO HAS A
LOT OF PERKS. A LOT OF PEOPLE KISSING YOUR
ASS. A LOT OF FREE DONUTS. A LOT OF FREE STUFF, YOU KNOW. AND THAT’S FINE. BUT THAT’S THE JOB. AND I THINK MOST OF THEM WOULD
WANT TO KEEP DOING IT.>>Stephen: IT’S NOT A JOB
THAT I WOULD WANT TO DO.>>BUT THAT’S WHY YOU DIDN’T GO
INTO IT. AND THEY DON’T WANT YOUR JOB.>>Stephen: THEY MIGHT. IT’S A NICE JOB. I DON’T KNOW WHO WOULDN’T WANT
THIS JOB. IT’S A VERY NICE JOB. I SIT HERE, I TALK TO YOU, THEY
PAY ME A LOT OF MONEY. I WAS JUST DRINKING.>>YOU’RE RIGHT, I TAKE THAT
BACK. THEY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOUR
JOB.>>Stephen: THEY WOULD LOVE TO
HAVE YOUR JOB TOO, BECAUSE YOURSES IS ONCE A WEEK, THAT
SOUNDS REALLY EASY.>>IT’S ACTUALLY NOT. CUZ I HAVE TO MAKE IT GOOD. ANYWAY.>>OH!>>Stephen: REALTIME AIRS
FRIDAYS ON HBO AND CHECK OUT SPECIAL CONVENTION EPISODES OVER
THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS. BILL MAHER, EVERYBODY. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING
HERE.

100 thoughts on “Bill Maher: “Police Culture Has To Change”

  1. I find it interesting that someone like Maher, who knows nothing about law enforcement, feels completely comfortable passing judgment on the police. I would suggest that he go on a ride a long with his local police department and I am certain there are departments who would let him participate in some of the training that cops go thru. I think if he did this, his attitude would change, at least slightly. Back in the 70's, Peter Falk hosted a documentary called "Shoot, don't shoot" where they allowed regular citizens to participate in simulated training. People who came it with bad attitudes about the police soon changed their minds when they were "killed" over and over again in simulation. We all know there are bad cops out there. A few slip thru the cracks and get in and some go bad once they are on the job. Those need to be identified and either retrained or gotten rid of. One bad cop tarnishes every good cop out there. Those who say all cops are bad are just as naive and stupid as those who think they are all perfect.

  2. Fact:police officer is the ONLY job where intelligence is a disqualification from the position.

What do we really expect to happen when we give the least intelligent authority and weapons?

  3. Of course those on the left always make it about race. No, American cops harass and abuse ANYONE that they feel is below them, in other words the public! Endless videos online show that. I'm white and I used to like doing a lot of solo driving trips across America and I no longer do so because I would always be harassed by police on every trip, and not just one stop, but multiple stops. Many of those pigs (yes, they deserved to be called pigs) could have easily made something up and ruined my life. Because of course the courts kiss the asses of the police.

By the way, I said I was white, but I'm also as conservative and patriotic as they come and I can easily say that police culture in America is rotten to the core. The main reason for that, which was touched upon in the video, is decades of glorifying the police in endless TV shows and movies, and of course in every day life. So now they feel they can get away with anything. Now they feel they are better than the public.

America was not founded upon the principle of glorifying those in lawful authority, such as the police and politicians. On the contrary. Such people people are public servants, not our Lords and masters. America's Founding Fathers would literally be up in arms at the state America is in today. That state is a fascistic police state with endless laws governing every single aspect of our lives.

Stop glorifying the police America! It's not healthy for a free society! Do not bow down to fascist police!

  4. OPINION:

    1) CATHOLIC FAITH'S MORAL TEACHING( FROM CHRIST, AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH ).

    2) MORAL TEACHING BY GOD'S LAW.

    3) HUMAN REASON.

    MAHER USES HUMAN REASON.
IT'S BECAUSE HE SAID HE IS AN ATHEIST.

  5. Lovu Bill. Wish there were more like you. Admire the way you are not hypocritical.

  6. Police culture? I haven’t broken a law in 15 years and that’s how long the police have left me alone. Idiots……

  7. As someone from the UK where it is generally illegal to own a firearm, and where police do not routinely carry guns, yes we have problems with our police too, but you absolutely do not see videos upon videos of people getting gunned down while they have their hands up or are on the ground. America – lose your obsession with guns FFS!!!

  8. I dont think Colbert actually disagrees with Maher or is more conservative. He is just trying not to laugh. Take a competitor down a peg.

  9. I love this. Cops and military don’t deserve blind reverence. Some of them are great, most are average, some are monsters. People always forget or ignore that it is a PAID job that people apply for by CHOICE. No American is forced into the military or police force; they know what they’re getting into.

  10. For me Bill Maher is one of few guests on Stephen's show who is realistic and smart.

  11. The police force attracts racists and some parts of the police force are a secret KKK. Nods and winks.

  12. I'm not a cop but a social worker. and I will say this: I'm still working with 30 year experience and my bachelor degree with worst cases of youth (not downright psychiatric ward committed) who – as cynical as it sounds – have no hope at all: at least 80% will end up drug addicts, petty criminals or worse. And are either incarcerated or dead before reaching 40. THIS is what the cops all over the world are up against daily – so I think for once Mr. Maher is barking at the wrong direction. Of course there are bad elements in every profession, and characters who simply never should've put on the police uniform – but I totally understand the pressures of law enforcement.

  13. To defend police for a moment… if a person can move their arms, THEY ARE NOT UNARMED. Arms can do a lot of damage. They can punch and try to grab a gun from an officer, which is exactly what Michael Brown tried to do. That is why he is justifiably dead.

  14. Statically, white people are shot more by the police than black people
    -Washington Post

  15. The problem we are facing is in part what he started with, "how many videos can you watch of cops shooting unarmed black people". For most people the only point of reference they have for anything police related are anti-police videos. As a society we don't make many videos of cops locking up guys who beat their wives, of cops who help lost children find their parents, of cops who put in thousands of hours of work to stop internet child pornography. People only have the few videos……and let's be honest, for a country of 2 million cops we don't have many videos of cops shooting unarmed black people. There is a reason why BLM is still using names from 2012 and 2013. It's because there aren't enough examples to use brand new ones. People are still using Trayvon Martin as an example, and he wasn't even shot by a cop. We have the same dozen or so names that keep being recycled, which are what people are using to justify their anger.

To put into perspective, if we had 1 new police shooting every day, at the end of the year we would have video that represents the actions of 0.01% of police in America. We don't have anywhere close to that.

People need to embrace what reality is and not the false reality that the media portrays by putting the same faces in front of use over and over again trying to convince us that this happens every day. It doesn't. Anybody who thinks it does… please give me the names of 30 people who were unarmed when police shot them and have all of these examples be from 2019. We're going to be waiting a while. If you could give me 30 names, that would still only represent 0.0001% of American police.

  16. I would say that we already have anarchy, but theres just a lot of brain washing that goes in to making us believe that it's right for people, countries and business to do whatever they want, punish us for breaking rules that they made up and attacking us when we complain that the system is oppressing and controlling us. Basically, governments and groups of people gain authority by using threats of violence and death to subdue other people. Much of their power comes from murdering those that oppose them. It's all well and good for me to believe that US government has no authority over me but the reality is that they can kill me or anyone they want whenever they want. So we all fear them and we've been trained to believe that our fear is respect and that their violent actions are justified. Our world view has been shaped by them, they control the media, what we learn in school, everything. The reality is that the most dangerous people in the world control everything; how is that not anarchy?

  17. Listen to Heather MacDonald for the facts. Police killing minorities is not statistically out of bounds. In NYC in 2018 98% of the murders were committed by black and brown people. But, you must overlay this with a history lesson (not recent history) of violent treatment of minorities by the police. We're still angry about that. Cops are terrified in high crime areas when people of all colors resist arrest – and I'm not so sure I blame them for that.

  18. Alot of cops are Iraq vets who see civilians as the enemy . In Canada u have to do at least 4 yrs of higher education to be a cop. In the States ?

  19. I'm a disabled woman who mostly walks with a walker and I have the police department harassing me I have a most obvious false police report of arson when all I was doing was delivering a court document it says that I was arrested all the boxes were checked off multi violations it says that it was a personal letter when it was clearly a court transcript and a court document addressed to a judge so the whole report was false as well as I had a dog attack and the Sheriff's Office wrote that I was anti-government what that has to do with the dog attack I have no idea they lied in the report as well day I have video of the police and pictures of them harassing me I didn't even get out of my car I pull up to a public place and they pull this skit and four cops show up I mean clearly the police department is harassing me and I have wrote letters to the doj they don't care they're out of control they don't even have to fix the false report admitting that it was a false report

  20. Oh Colbert, you used to not be a shill. Now you can't speak honestly. The hesitation is palpable but at least the money is good, right? That's CBS' cash-muzzle for you! Must be a real awesome job…miss the old you.

  21. As I said, I LOVE them both. Bill thinks in reality. Stephen is an optimist – both are good AND correct

  22. i wonder if he feels this way about Israel lol, what a hypocrite this scumbag is

  23. I think all people who want to be in law enforcement should have a college degree in criminal justice and or psychology and bill isnt correct on the protection of people its the protection of the law

  24. there are only 2 gangs in L.A the gangs we make 2 protect us & lapd in jail police make black&brown fight in the street police beat shoot arrest frame u end up with ptsd UR CALLED CRAZy ??

  25. Groucho Marx once said something along the lines of “I wouldn’t join any club that would have me as a member!” Similarly, we should probably not allow anyone who wants to be a police officer to actually become one. For obvious reasons…

  26. I know four police officers. Two of them were violent bullies at school. Two of them were the victims of bullies (one was a victim of one of the violent bullies who became a police officer).

  27. I certainly don't want to lecture you. But In Germany every potential policeman has to pass a psychosometric test and after that it'ts a 3 years training period (2 years if you got a high school degree.)

  28. It's Simple, Police in America are not only Out of Control, Power Hungry and always out on the Hunt to make Victims out of Innocent people just to meet an arrest or ticket Quota, PROSECUTORS who are too COWARDLY to Prosecute the Criminals in Blue and the Local Governments who hire these Criminals in Blue have to be replaced and kicked out of office by the Voters otherwise there are family members of some of their Victims who can and will fight back like we have witnessed a few times in the past couple of year's.

  29. Bill Maher has to change. Into less of a tool for the nonchanging left. You are part of the problem. Congrats on like sucking at plugging pot. You are a Californian in your rhetoric only based on you living there. Fuck. You have been fighting to fail for decades now. Continue and we will still see you. For what you promote. And continue into oblivion. Your media owners will be owned by those they and you fuck over. Let's talk talk talk until our ears bleed too.

  30. Still the same, 3 years later. 2019. Cops are worse now and more entitled. Watch the videos they take of themselves. They are worse than the criminals……often

  31. Love Bill Maher but honestly, his comment about the police being necessary for rule and order is …. disturbing. I recommend looking into MARK PASSIO's What on earth is Happening podcast research … He discusses Natural Law and a whole bunch of topics. Here is his website.. Strangely.. it is for some reason down.. but I am sure it will be back up https://www.whatonearthishappening.com/

  32. Speak the truth unapologetically and correct!’ Going on for years it’s just now in your face thanks to SOCIAL MEDIA

  33. You Americans still don’t get it. ITS GUNS YOU IDIOTS. Keep your second amendment, but make people prove they are sensible enough to have one. Make people keep them in locked cabinets. And it’s no excuse to have a firearm for self defence. If guns were less available you would feel safe, just like other countries

  34. Soooooo true….alot of cops who have been bullied as a teenager and then take it out as cops

  35. 3.48 If you watch TV shows like "Cops", when an officer presents him-(mostly)-self at the beginning of each segment, they always say they love their job and many say they've always wanted to be in the police. They should therefore never complain about it being difficult or even dangerous. It goes with the territory.

  36. Wiktionary pigwidgeon English Noun pigwidgeon (plural pigwidgeons)
(rare) A small or petty person, creature or object, especially a fairy, dwarf, imp, or elf.

(rare) A contemptible or stupid person or creature

  37. I can’t believe that policeman in many cultures becomes a policeman just to feel macho or as a center of attention or as a powerful character … cross many cultures not saying the majority of policemen are bad but some small portion of them are just sick … thank you all good policeman.

  38. Police ass raped me on the side of the road once, never called me back for a second date tho ..oxox

  39. Our government has discovered how to project voices into peoples heads using extreme long wave radio frequencies. With that said, Isn't it strange that mass shootings have been escalating prior to upcoming elections? During alcohol prohibition, the FBI poisoned confiscated booze & returned it to the black market hundreds of people died.

  40. Colbert looks SO uncomfortable. I wonder if he did the interview today in 2019 what his reaction would be.

  41. This is really pathetic. His reaction to police being murdered by violent criminals is essentially: "Police culture has to change, police have had it too good since the 60's ended" Obscene. Violent criminals are the problem, they are the ones who must change, not the police. If you want to live in a lawless hellhole, there are plenty of places you can go and do that. Don't let these fools talk you into destroying yourselves boys and girls.

  42. I’d say people need to change. Don’t be a piece of shit and you have nothing to worry about

  43. THE POLICE 🚔 R A BUNCH OF SELF-HATEING SOCIAL MISFITS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
" WHEN THE LAW !!! BREAKS THE LAW THERE IS NO LAW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    BILLY BOY 👦

  44. I personally think that reaching for a police officer's weapon constitutes escalation of force situation. Lethal force could be an option.

I think erratically operating an automobile in a threatening manner is another situation where lethal force is an option.

Being a cop is a tough job.

  45. The thin blue line does make them all bad they know exactly what their partner did wrong or another officer on the force did something wrong that will directly effect a persons life or family or income and they say nothing even going as far as lying to protect their fellow officers

  46. Gee, Bill, could it be the advent of the commucation super highway that has a camera in every hand, often in real time?
The same percentage of bad cops doing criminal activity is there but the situations in which dirty cops go bad are being recorded 10X as often out of sheer #'s witnesses whose testimony is uploaded to various outlets and legal officials. The % is probably going down due to the "Crosswalk Effect", as many videos will show the bad cops "Looking both ways before they proceed to CROSS: The street/thin line between cop and criminal"!
When they see a citizen holding their phone cam up and recording, one of two things occur. If they can compose themselves and haven't given themselves to too many cathartic releases to which each time LESS INHIBITION ensues. If they cannot bring themselves back to human being, those represent the times you see cops violating the rights of simple witness not obstructing his kicking of his perp, just documenting it.
Consider it a public service. Maybe police admin isn't aware of this officer undercutting public faith that THEIR cops have a previously unknown BAD EGG. We know little or no action takes place, which is like admin putting a banner up to say, NOT IN TOWN XXX! Since we have no such problem, please stop getting your National Geographic footage of OUR APES!👹☠️📜
It appears many beleaguered police executives, daunted by a shortage of deputized officers or they have a headache or why does this crap (the confrontation you represent) always happen at the least convenient time or…
The status quo closes more cases, and creates more cases, which require additional deception.
Oh! There's that thin BLUE LINE that screws up the reasons that Americans chose to establish local police forces in the first place. Yes, we created them for the purpose the people feeling safer. The purpose has been lost through corruption and defended by good officers which simply LAUNDERS THE BAD COPS CRIMES!☠️ Enabling bad acting and sending regular citizen being convicted on ,"THEIR GOOD WORD"! I'd apologize to all good cops if A. They weren't co-defendants by virtue of their silence or B. They were visually indestinguishable from the bad cops, camaflouging them.
It's sad that a great contributor to the growing problem is "Good Cops", that make themselves bad cops by default!
If you see something, say something" and they will either get aggressive or go kill the neighbor watching his TV at max volume that comes to the door with the remote in hand. (Thank God I stole the throwaway gun from the last perp that had two) dropping it beside by neighbor whose only CRIME was to refuse to turn it down so I could hear my own.
This is my thoughts and opinions. If you like debate, share. If you want to be a blowhard, well that's ok too

  47. And now Fox news is advocating arming as many people as possible at as many places as possible to protect the second amendment which is often defended as a way to protect citizens from a police state.

    The irony is mind boggling..

  48. People who work on power lines have a job way more dangerous than being a cop and you never hear them crying about fearing for their lives.

  49. He said that he's surprised that it didn't happen before… Dude, it's been happening for years and years. They just didn't always have recordings.

  50. Bill, Stephen, I have honestly seen enough. The needy kid, bullied by others on the playground grows up and has to be a cop, taking his vengeance out on every unfortunate who taps his break at a stop sign. We've got to change this. First thing to do: double cops salaries. Then maybe we'd attract potential officers who can make a rational decision about a subject, even if the testosterone is coursing thru his veins.
