But as a rapper from Asia, it was difficult to break hip-hop’s bamboo ceiling and be taken seriously as an artist. And as a rapper from Asia, the issue of appropriation comes up a lot. In 2017, his song “Jala” was meant to be a casual piece but became one of his more famous hits.
