Fans demand Jesy Nelson deletes ‘EMBARRASSING’ post in cultural appropriation row Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson, 26, has found herself at the centre of controversy due to her new hair ‘do which lots of loyal ‘Mixers’ have taken real offence to. Sharing a behind-the-scenes shot with her 3.7 million followers on Instagram, Jesy posed on a bed in nothing but a bold fur and graphic print coat. But, it wasn’t her scantily-clad outfit that caused attention – it was her bright auburn braids. Fans flocked to comment on the pic which has already netted in excess of 51k likes. One follower said: “Stop using our culture for your fashion statements.” Another Instagram user said: “Delete Jesy please, you look amazing but this is cultural appropriation.”. A third added: “Please stop embarrassing us, please we love you but there are some things we can’t defend. Kindly love yourself and your fans.” The fury over Jesy’s hairstyle follows Kim Kardashian being slammed for the silver cornrows she recently sported. Calling them her “Bo Derek braids” – which the actress famously sported in 1979 film, 10, Kim, 37, was accused of crediting a white woman for the traditional African style. One Twitter user said: “Kim Kardashian should have learned by now how to properly deal with black culture and considering she has three black kids this behaviour is disturbing.” While another added: “First of all, f*** you Kim Kardashian for wearing cornrows and calling them “Bo Derek braids”. “Second of all all f*** you for crediting the creation of “Bo Derek braids” to a white woman who was culturally appropriating them to begin with.”.
