What Made Me Stop Trading

– Sometimes you should not be trading. You do not have what it
takes to make a trade. You should not risk
your hard-earned money. Let me explain when that time is. (upbeat music) What’s up, Tim Sykes, millionaire, mentor and trader. I’m kind of losing my mind right now because I don’t know if you can see? Can we show the second camera angle? You know, I have a hunchback just from sitting on the laptop. My hunchback is even worse because I just really screwed up my back getting my luggage down from
the overhead compartment. Just flew from Tokyo to Hawaii for the “Save the Reef” premiere. I was rushing because you might not know this, but if you click this link
just below this video, I’ll link you the “Save The Reef” film that we did. But two days before the big premiere, roughly half a million dollars of my money poured into this project. Trying to, you know, get the word out. So it was my own personal money, okay? This is not the charity’s money, don’t get confused, they’re two separate things. The charity money gets donated to charity. I spent my own personal money putting on these
productions and premieres. So I have roughly $500,000
tied up in this premiere. Two days before the premiere, I’m rushing to go meet with my filmmakers. It’s not fully edited. It’s kind of a mess, because we went to too many countries, we got too much footage, we have too many people in it, and I did not give them
enough time to complete it. So everyone is kind of freaking out, nobody more than me, and so I hurt my back, because I was rushing and I was half asleep and you know. Anyways, long story short, click the link below, you’ll see the documentary. Everything turned out fantastic. Justin Kalani and Amir Zakeri came through with flying colors with very little sleep. I had very little sleep, and my back got crunched from the bag coming down. And I don’t know what I did, but I felt the pain immediately, and I screamed out an obscenity, and I was on this plane
with all this little, you know, Japanese people
who are very polite, and I’m just yelling and swearing, and they must have thought I was Godzilla. So right now as I’m filming this, I am on pain meds because
my back is killing me, so I’m even more hunched over than normal. This is an example of when not to trade. Today, we’re filming this on a Saturday, so the stock market
isn’t open fortunately, but at the same time if it were open, I would need to have the
mental fortitude to not trade because I’m not completely there. Okay. I don’t know if you can see it in my eyes, in my hunch, in my gestures, in my speech. I am not fully there, and when you have a trading account, you know, with a trading account comes great responsibility. Okay? You’re basically like your
neighborhood Spider-man, and you have to be very careful because it’s very easy
to risk a lot of money. It’s just a few finger taps. Right? Look at me. I’m betting thousands of dollars. Look at me. I’m betting tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars. You have to recognize
when you’re not there. I don’t know if you have film premieres, and you have, you know, a
scrunched back with back spasms and you’re on pain meds, and, you know. I don’t know what happens in your life, but I think that we all go
through tough times somehow. I just have crazy stories. Some people, you know, like maybe you have a business meeting, maybe you have to pick
your kids up at school, maybe you’re not feeling well, and you’re on some kind of medication. Be very aware. Remember this video lesson whenever you’re not feeling 100% or even 90% or 80% or 60% or 30%. I’m like, 15% there right now. I recognize that and I told Pasquale. Say hi Pasquale. – [Pasquale] Hey, guys. – I told him. I said, “Yo, let’s film this.” He’s like, “Are you sure? “Like, you’re looking kinda weird, “and cracked out.” But I was like, “Yo, I
mean, yeah, let’s film this. “This is a good example. “This is real life coming at you.” I’ve just been filming video lessons. My back was hurting. Literally I just took,
you know, a painkiller, and now I’m like all loopy. So this video should serve as a warning. Whenever you feel like this, or if you know somebody who’s
feeling under the weather or they’re too busy, send them this video, and be like, “Don’t trade. “Don’t risk your hard-earned money “when you’re like this.” There’s always gonna be another trade, there’s always gonna
be another opportunity. Sometimes you just not gonna
be there for whatever reason mentally, physically. Maybe you can’t even be at a laptop or a computer, you know. This is happened to me before, sometimes where I see a potential trade, and I wanna hold the stocks overnight, but I’m not gonna be available at the market open the next day. Some people will make a trade anyways, and they’d be like, “I like this setup. “You know, whenever I get to
my computer I’ll get there, “but I’m gonna risk it.” And it’s like a blind trade. And I’ve done some blind trades before, but that’s for gamblers, okay? I would rather you don’t make the trade, and I would rather you missed
out on any potential profits, but also protect yourself
from potential losses. Always think about what could go wrong. Always think about kinda
like your blindsided which most people don’t wanna think about. It’s not fun. It’s not exciting, you know, but you have to. Remember 90% of traders lose and a lot of it is just due
to lack of being meticulous. And we’re all human, we make mistakes, we have stuff get in the
way so recognize that. Really recognize it. I think I’ve even done
this video lesson before, we’re gonna do it again because it’s such an
important video lesson and now you can fully understand, you know, how bad it is to trade when you have a mindset like this. Anyways, leave a comment below if you’ve ever felt like shit before. 2. Haha definitely feel like this was a video for me today, just traded on boredom, although i saw a obvious continuation pattern. It wasnt a setup that ive traded before, and i should focus on the setups Im practicing to understand the ins and outs before doing small scalp trades. Thanks for the kick in the butt Tim! much needed! #drillsergeant

  3. Every new video you posted. Fit 100% in me bro i don't know why. It's like some i need to hear from God..thanks so much tim..you are my hero..

  4. I’ve had two back surgeries and about to have another one. Stay clear of the opioids. If anything only take it at night before sleeping so you aren’t aware of the psychological affects. I had to be lifted on a stretcher due to l5-s1 pinch so bad I couldn’t move my leg. I’m thankful I can walk fine again. Fight through the pain with Tylenol or ibuprofen and a muscle relaxer if anything. Also if you need a filmmaker, my bro worked on documentaries for the green mile, Shawshank redemption, walking dead etc.

  5. I hope you're feeling better soon bro. Go see a physiotherapist, s/he'll give you some good stretches to fix the pain. Thanks for the good advice.

  6. Tim try listening to binaural beats for pain and meditate. It might help you re-wire your brain because sometimes it’s just psychological. Hope you feel better soon.

  7. I swear I already watched this. Did you do this already getting luggage off of another flight a month or so ago?

  8. Your back again? Get well sir and when you are better you have to let Tim Bohen get you a good Lat and core workout! Get you some Japanese ashiatsu massage while you're over there.

  11. very interesting , even though you advise not to trade when you’re feeling down, you can still produce a great video! Is there something unique about trading that requires you to be feeling tops to perform/not lose?

  12. I’m just getting started and keep losing money (paper money) but I started a month ago but I’m learning hope it gets better

  19. Regardless of where I am, when I am, I’m literally fifteen seconds from being in a trade at all times. Incredible. Like quick-draw McGraw – but with my life’s savings instead of bullets.

We all have to learn the hard way BUT I appreciate you trying to do new traders a solid. I wanna meet the newbie trader who hears the advice in this video and follows it. Curious to see what that person might look like. There ought to be a trophy for such an incredible feat. I don’t think any trader is smart enough in the beginning to listen to the primary golden nuggets of wisdom that are easy to find, impossible to follow (at first). More like, how many times do you have to do something stupid before you never do it again. That’s (arguably) the primary variable/determinant of future performance, in my opinion.

I haven’t seen a video discussing the lack of lifestyle structure and how to handle it for longevity. Not hard to just sit around all day, motionless, shoveling chemicals and drugs down my throat. Before long reality reappears with the reminder to satisfy physical needs.

    Thanks for the video 👍

  20. You just talk to much non sense that’s your problem I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and they are same you just talk to much

  21. Your videos help me so much man. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I've been trading for about a year and a half. I use your strategies, but trade with options instead. When I started, I was losing money constantly. In fact, I lost around 40k in my first year. However, I have been break even for about 3 months with the help of your videos, and have actually turned 1k into 6k in the past month alone. I can definitely tell that I am more patient than ever, and much better at spotting quality trades. Once I become a millionaire, I will hit you up. 🙂 Until then, keep the content coming.

  22. As a trend trading options swinger there are periods where I just have to wait. I compound about 15% month, but there have been periods where I've sat out for 2-3 weeks (drives me crazy); but an ROI of +200% helps to calm me 🙂.

PS – I just learned from your site that sunscreens can be harmful to reefs; I live in sunny SW Florida so I need to switch to reef safe sunscreens. Thanks.

  24. Hi Tim, thanks for sharing all the wisdom regarding penny stocking, I have a question. How should someone plan his trades and place his orders, who is working at 9-5 PST job and who is also a new bee. What’s his daily and weekly schedule should look like?
    Please advice

  25. Tim, Thank you for the video. Yeah, for me the first priority is how fit I am physically and mentally before I commit to study and trading. I take magnesium 500 if I tear a muscle it heals fast hope you feel better!
